Memories

I sit here in my rocking chair

Watching the world go by

All alone left with my thoughts

Feeling so down but unable to cry.

Wrapping a blanket around my shoulders

Memories flash before me but disappear

Trying so hard to stay focused

A face in the distance starts to become clear.

A gorgeous smile forming before me

Deep brown eyes make my heart melt

A strange feeling passes through my body

A feeling of love which I once felt.

I know that smile and those eyes

They belong to a face I formerly knew

To a man who took my hand into his own

Whom I loved unconditionally and he loved me too.

Sadness grips me making me shiver

As I sit rocking in my rocking chair

I feel so low but I’m not sure why

Memories flash before me but disappear.
