Got you wrong

I met you in the bar one night

You smiled and looked so sweet

You came over and brought me a drink

We talked and made plans to meet.

You text me later on that night

We spoke pure nonsense for over an hour

You made me laugh so hard I cried

You ended the text with a kiss and a flower.

We met the next day for lunch

I was nervous but you were so polite

You held my hand and kissed my cheek

Being with you just felt so right.

And so our relationship began that day

We met often and things were going well

It seemed like I was living in a fairy tale

You had put me under your spell.

But one day that magic flew away

I felt so sick I wanted to hurl

My heart shattered into a million pieces

When I saw you kissing another girl.

You saw that I had seen you there

You didn’t even try to come and explain

You grabbed the girl by her hand

And walked away leaving me in pain.

I can’t believe I had got you so wrong

How many girls had you treated this way

What gives you the right to hurt another

I hope you get what you deserve one day!

Wow.. the title alone is what caught my attention immediately. I believe we’ve all been here and you’ve managed to sum up others feels as well. Such as pain and betrayal etc.. I hate that good people have to go through some of the most hurtful situations in life. Very deeply written.

It’s such a shame when this happens. We need to start protecting ourselves instead of wearing our hearts on our sleeves. But then we may never find love.
