Betrayed

via Daily Prompt: Betrayed

I didn’t realise what was happening

Until it was too late

I was just having some fun

Like going out with a mate.

I didn’t mean for it to go so far

But I really couldn’t resist

Our relationship was going so well

I wasn’t expecting this twist.

I didn’t go out with intentions for change

Please believe this as it’s true

Our plans for the future sounded great

I enjoyed coming home to you.

I know I should have turned away the attention

But it took me by surprise

It shouldn’t have had this effect on me

It made me feel alive.

I know I should have told you sooner

In my mind I was being kind

Hoping you get fed up of being ignored

That you would leave me behind

I understand I have broken your trust and heart

With this deceiving game I played

You didn’t say a word or scream or lash out

You were truly shocked by being betrayed.

That’s terrible in every way, the excuses I picked up for betrayal through this poem, it’s a shame how one can do such then feel bad. Very deep!! Great poem

It must be such a horrible thing to go through, being betrayed. People should just be honest about their feelings… Thank you for reading. X

It’s good to read from the side of the cheater. To get an understanding. Still don’t condone it however. A spectacular piece of poetry. 👍
