Strange going on’s!

Something very strange is going on in my house. Something almost supernatural! It’s kind of scaring me…

It used to only be once in a while but lately the episodes have become more frequent. I’m not sure why…

I’ve tried to reason with the happenings scientifically but I can’t find a way to explain it!

My husband has even noticed these strange matters and it’s made him a BAFFLED DAD!

At least I know it’s not in my head…

I’m not imagining it…

I’m not going insane!

There is definitely something strange going on in my house.

I went out with my friends last week and I decided to bring up the subject. They sat and listened, transfixed to my story, in utter silence. Then to my horror, one of my friends told me she too had been experiencing the same strange things! And she wasn’t the only one, the other two girls admitted they also had been visited by these disturbing moments!

I couldn’t believe it! … But in a way I was glad… Glad because my family wasn’t the only one being targeted. I know that’s a terrible thing to admit, me being glad my friends were also suffering, but in a strange way it kind of made me feel safer.

We discussed what we should do but nobody had an answer. There are no authorities set up to deal with these issues, so who could we turn to for help? We realised we would just have to deal with it as best as possible and not let it interfere with our lives or happiness.

Since then I have spoken to my mum, the person I turn to whenever I am in a sticky situation. I was shocked to hear that she had been a victim of the same peculiar incidents. However, she told me over time the episodes had started to slow down and now she only encountered maybe one or two a year. That made me feel better.

So I just have to let it play out…

That’s easier said than done. I’m always on edge waiting for it to strike again. For there to be another unexplainable occurrence.

And what happens when the kids start to realise something isn’t quite right? What do I tell them? I don’t want to freak them out so how do I explain something that makes no sense to me?

Maybe I should start preparing them now?

I can turn it into a fantasy / fairy tale type story. I’ll tell them there’s a new character in town, sort of like the tooth fairy or Sandman.

And I’ll tell them as the tooth fairy takes our teeth, this mystical creature takes our socks.

Yes that’s right…

Something strange is happening in my house and other houses all around the world…

One sock from a pair seems to be constantly disappearing without a trace!

I blame it on the ‘Sockoman’!

I don’t know why he does it or even how he does it, but he does his job very well. A pair of socks will go into the wash but miraculously only one sock is ever found, the other sock is gone – just a distant memory…

      1. By the way, my own baffled mum just told me that it used to happen a lot when we were kids… she says it indeed is a ghost. It is reportedly building a special sock-rope to be able to climb back to the world it fell down from, a little below the clouds.πŸ‘ΊπŸ‘ΊπŸ‘»

I went through 3 stages reading this. Firstly one of concern and intrigue. Then I thought it was something to do with parenting, such as peace and quiet, sleeping through the night, or kids actually listening to what you say. Then one of realisation that our house too has this issue 🀣

  18. Ha ha! Fun post! Sockman is a regular in my house too. Sometimes a find a mysteriously lost socks caught inside a fold in my fitted sheet–as I’m empty the dryer. Also, Jerry Seinfeld does a very funny monologue about lost socks. I don’t know if you can find it on Youtube or some place like that, but if you can, it’s worth watching. Very funny.
