Start over

Wow, another year over!

I really wish time would slow down! I love the Christmas holidays but with so much going on, they seem to fly past. No sooner is Christmas over, the New Year celebrations kick in and another year passes by… So we start all over again.

It’s just over a week into 2019 and life is starting to settle back down. The kids are back to school and normal routine is beginning. Even the sun came to visit, now that was a shock!

I’m trying to forget mummy routine for the moment, probably because I dont know where to start! 2 weeks with the kids at home and my house is unrecognizable! I’m sure their bedrooms had carpet, I’m hoping to find them again someday soon; but not today! I think Miley Cyrus said it best when she sang came like a wrecking ball, the kids definitely did!

For now I want to concentrate on some much needed ME time.

Which gets me thinking… 🤔

2019, what will it bring? What do I want to achieve? What do I want to avoid?

I’m not setting New Year’s resolutions this year as I never seem to keep them up! At least I’m honest! Instead I’m going to set monthly targets. Now this might be really easy or as I suspect, get harder as we go through the year. But I’m going to give it a go, if I get stuck you guys might need to give me some ideas.

So, a nice, easy target to start – a health kick! I’m not talking about body appearance but internal health which I believe is much more important. I will aim to:

– Establish a healthy sleep pattern, waking early & sleeping at a decent time. ( I’m not a morning person and I find it really difficult to switch off at bedtime so this may be challenging).

– Healthy eating. 3 healthy meals for all the family along with healthy snacks. ( I do however believe part of being healthy is being happy so chocolate, crisps, ice-cream and other junk food is allowed in moderation, probably weekend treats).

– Exercise! I’m not a fan of exercise but I do enjoy walking. So I’ve brought myself a activity tracker and will aim to do 12,000 steps per day. (Again, maybe with the exception of weekends as I’m usually visiting family, but I’ll still try).

So that’s January’s targets set, wish me luck!

Can you believe I missed Monday’s steps target by 2!!! And I’m not sure about the ‘Active Time’, does that mean I was static for the rest of the day?

What challenges or targets have you set yourself this year. Let me know in the comments box.

Until next time…

  5. These things have a statistical error. 2 steps will be in its error tolerance – so it counts.

I’m not a fan of New Year’s resolutions either. LOVE the part you said you needed ME time and I SO encourage you! So what if you cannot see the carpet? The messes can wait but you cannot. For years I was a workout-aholic but lately, due to age probably and an unwillingness to go back to the gym which in all honesty I now dread (one place I was hooked on!) I LOVE to walk so I do. When it comes for my gardening again, that all by itself is exercise and the upper body muscles that could be improved will be. So, housework plus walking/hiking as I carry heavy camera equipment, and all the running up and down our stairs I do …. yep that is enough for now. Throw in there contorting into yoga positions just to get my cats and all the going to floor to get cats too … yep, I move every day. Do what you LOVE and then you won’t want to stop doing it. Happy New Year!! 💝💝💝

Wow, sounds like you get plenty of exercise without even trying – that’s the best way! Happy New Year to you too… ❤
