Heart Vs Head

My heart is desperate to take you back

My head is telling me NO

My heart aches as I miss you so much

But my head says the pain will go.

My head is saying it’s time to move on

My heart definitely doesn’t agree

My head thinks I can do so much better

But my heart thinks you’re the only one for me.

My heart is saying you deserve another chance

My head says you’ve already had plenty

My heart believes it will be different this time

But my head says one chance will lead to many.

My head is telling my heart to be strong

My heart says it’s ready to break

My head assures me I can handle this upset

But my heart thinks it’s more than I can take.

My heart is holding on to all that’s good in you

My head wants to press delete

My heart is sure it can convince my head

But my head says it won’t accept defeat.

  4. Wow!! Astounding how you articulated through the written word the dissonance between head and heart. Many times I’ve experienced this and it can drive you nuts. Amazing post! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

      1. I LOVE words and due to my reading habits learn new words all the time. I’m smiling knowing you now know the meaning of a new word for you. Cool beans!! FYI … we all have those tough times. XOXO

  5. So very clever. Itโ€™s funny in the past my head ruled the heart, now itโ€™s the other way round. Which is more dominant for you…

  15. I think we are often ruled by our hearts but sometimes they can lead us astray where love is concerned and we need to be engaging our brains a little. A really difficult balance to find though as our hearts can be pretty strong.

  19. MOMENTS says:

This heart-mind dissociation. You touched my heart (and also my mind) with this lovely poem, so relatable. It so resonates with me. I strongly recommend you and the rest of your followers here to read my friend Mario Savioniโ€™s novel (very short chapters) โ€œPickles and Tartsโ€. A lot of what your lovely poem expresses is there as well: what one dares to dream but cannot always accomplish: โ€œFrank thought about this. Was he looking for a partner or someone to have sex with? He did not think beyond that simple, single transaction โ€” the satisfaction of his baser needs, not realizing that his needs might go on given the possibility of this opportunity and mutual attraction.โ€ Excerpt from here: https://savioni.wordpress.com/2019/02/27/pickles-and-tarts-chapter-8/
