When good intentions fail

The kids had half term this week and I’ve been looking forward to it for a while. Even the weather outlook was great, sunny and warm which is shocking for this time of the year! So I had a list of things planned, fun things to do and the necessities; homework, chores, shopping etc. The week started off great and was running on track until I hit a massive bump in the road midweek!

It was the dreaded migraine attack! I haven’t had such a bad migraine in years, literally YEARS! But trust it to come out of the woodwork to strike when I least expected it and when I’ve got so much to do! My hubby was wounded as he’d taken holidays from work so we could have some family outings, which I felt terrible for. The kids didn’t mind as much as it meant extra PlayStation time for them.

So 2 days in bed was the result of this attack, in comparison it wasn’t bad as previously I’ve spent up to a week off my feet. But 2 days in the half term, with all these plans waiting to unfold, was disastrous! So now it’s a 7weeks term at school until the next holidays which is far too long, I’m shocked those words just came out of my mouth,Β but I’m hoping with fingers and toes crossed that I’ll be fine when they come around.

Woman Holding Her Head

Instead of my usual highlight and low point of the week, I’m going to round-up with – On the plus side of my migraine and on the down side of my migraine:

On the plus side – Hubby had to take the boys shopping for uniforms which was a completely new experience for him… and the boys. The boys learnt to fend for themselves over the 2 days, breakfast and lunch whilst hubby sorted out dinner. And I had a well deserved sleep!

On the down side – My house is a complete mess! Bless hubby and the boys, they have tidied up but their standards of tidy are completely different to mine!Β

How about you guys? How has your week been?

Leave a comment below and share a highlight, a low point or any other details you would like me to know.

Look forward to hearing from you…

Suki… X!

  1. Oh no! You take the much needed rest…and about tyr cleaning part, no cleaning is good enough unless the woman does it herself.
Applicable to all women, it’s like if I need something to be done-I have to do it myself.
    Am I right? πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ˜…πŸ˜

Oh Suki! How horrible for you. I only ever had one migraine in my life and it nearly drove me bananas. Mi really hope you are feeling better now.

My liw moments and my high moments: my high moment was when I actually got somewhere that I thought I would never get to again as travelling is pretty impossible for me these days, i got to the luttle church that I told you about in my Blog. I was SO excited to have actually got there, and it is only 40 minuted away in the car, but nevertheless it is difficult for me.
My low moment was my bathtub moment yesterday. I got depressed with my condition and spent my time in the bathtub howling lol. Making mire water!

Oh and the other hugh moment was when hubby found some daffodils for sale in our local little tiny Tesco, and I asked him to buy some for my mum who is 93 and hoysebound now and suffering from emphysema. Instead of not wanting them, as usual, she actually loved them and I think they cheered her up.

I bet I could think of other highs and lows, but that is it for nw.
    Lfeel better soon Suki xx

I used to get horrible migraines, ignited by the childhood illness I had (meningitis) but this has not happened in many years now, for which I am thankful. I do hope you are feeling better; I remember that these headaches used to leave me almost shattered with a week long recovery required to get back to normal. πŸ™‚

My highlight? Well it’s raining today (which isn’t really a highlight) which means all the frozen snow and ice banks are melting. This is a GOOD thing (I’m sick of ice.)

The low point means driving will take twice as long because there are so many cracks and potholes in the street now…so much damage. And I have to drive to 3 activities today, one out of town. Boo. πŸ™‚

Oh no. It’s always annoying when something like that strikes during a holiday — especially when you hqve a lot planned. Hope you recover soon.

Half term is still a week away for us, but I had the boys clearing wook all weekend. And then we rewarded them with a barbecue πŸ™‚

It’s quite easy for me at the moment. The boys — especially the twins — are still at the age where they want to be involved in whatever is going on. And for all three of them, if I give them a handsaw and permission to start cutting branches there is no stopping them πŸ˜‰

But I HAVE had other pains, and though they were not as bad as a migraine I am certain, they were bad enough. I enjoy your writing style and you certainly hit home for a lot of folks I am certain with your good post. Thank you kindly.

  18. Have you been checked by a neurologist? I know that people do have migraines, and I have never had one, thank heavens, but I heard a thing on TV by someone whose name I cannot remember. She said that if you get a sudden really bad headache or feel suddenly dizzy to see a doctor immediately because it could be an aneurism. I never thought of that. If it is at all possible, I would insist on seeing a neurologist. I remember years ago too that one lady that had really horrible migraines found out that it had something to do with some dental work she had done earlier. It took them what seemed forever to figure it out, but once they corrected it, the migraines stopped. I always wonder about these things. Hope you get better soon, truly. This is no way to live for sure.

Thank you for your concern… I have been checked out, had a MRI along with other checks & thankfully all has been clear… My whole family suffers with migraines so I’m presuming its genetic! Most of the time I can handle them through medication but somedays 1 will slip through… ❀
