Another hospital visit

My poor baby is really going through the ringer at the moment with health issues. Since his fainting episode at school, he has been in and out of the doctor’s surgery who then sent him to hospital for even more blood tests. I can see the worry starting to show on his little face… He asks me – What’s wrong with me? What does it mean if my levels are low? And the worst question – Am I going to die? !!!

It must be so scary for him. I can’t even imagine how all the jargon the doctor throws at us is translated in his head. It’s hard enough understanding maths and english at that age but now he has an in-depth look into science as well.

I have tried to explain things to him but he’s knows I’ll do anything in my power to underplay any results we receive, that’s part of a mother’s role after all…

I’m sincerely grateful my sons condition isn’t life threatening but it makes me think about the horrific ordeal parents who have children in hospital care must endure. My heart goes out to them…

So this week my mind has been filled with worries. My monthly targets have been put on hold but as things begin to settle, I will get back into it.

Highlight of the week – I’m finding it difficult to think of positives so instead I’ll tell you that I’m grateful for my family’s health.

Low point of the week – Apart from my son’s health issues, it has to be storm Freya ripping through England and causing a lot of damage in my garden!

I hope you have all had a good week with plenty of positivity. I’d love for you to share your highlights or low points with me in the comments below…

Suki… X!

Nothing to offer but love to you and your child Suki. It is certainly hard, if not impossible, to find positives when your child is hurting. I do hope everything works out for the good ❤

The ordeal with your little one has to be confusing and scary for him. I can imagine you mixed with emotions yourself! I’m sure time will do its thing and bring forth answers.
In light of that, finding positives can be tricky sometimes. Do you blog about your positives often? I am certain that would be a positive aspect in someone else’s life.
If you ever need a listening ear, I have two.

I recall how different parenting was when I was a child now that I parent my own children. Particularly when a child is sick. As you know, I was really sick in childhood but I don’t recall anyone ever really explaining things to me. It just didn’t seem to cross anyone’s mind. The other day my daughter had a doctor’s apt (just a follow-up) and I noticed how different things are now. When I was a child a doctor would just perform his examination on me. Our doctor asked my child, in my presence, everytime he needed to touch her somewhere, after explaining what he needed to do, and why. I realize why this is but even still, there are more explanations, and encouraged dialogue today between kids and parents, and kids and health care professionals, than there was in my time. Which is why kids feel comfortable enough to ask us the scary questions. Like your son did with you.

I hope you will find the cause quickly and find a solution so he can relax and get on with being a boy. ❤

Yes I completely understand what you are saying about the differences… & I’m glad kids are more open nowadays… Thank you for your kind words, I can’t wait till we’ve had all the results in so we can begin the next steps to recovery… ❤

I’m so sorry about your little guy!

For me: high point was sneaking chocolate yesterday (I’m on a diet). Okay-and the day before that. Maybe the day before that, too.
Low point was a huge fight with the hubs over medicating our son. Funnily enough, we actually resolved it.

Most weeks are sort-of middle for me, though. I’m sure your days will look up!

It’s funny you mentioned snaking chocolate, when ever I’m on a diet I make sure to save enough calories to have a chocolate at night! 😆 I could miss a meal but I need my collate bar, it’s terrible! 🍫❤
