Welcome to my blended story, written by me and 2 of my sons. I started the story then my boys wrote a paragraph each and left me to write the conclusion. A word of warning… this story took a completely different turn to what was initially in my head, courtesy of my boys!Β So be prepared…
A strange noise wakes me up in the middle of the night. I sit up, startled! It is still pitch black outside so I check my clock for the time, it’s 02:15. I rub the sleep from my eyes whilst keeping an ear out incase the sound comes again. It does! It’s louder this time! I listen more carefully trying to work out where it’s coming from, is it inside my house or out in the street? Again I hear it! It’s definitely in the house! I get my mobile phone, turn on the torch and go to investigate…
I’m scared but I know I must find out what the noise is. I’m standing at the top of the stairs trembling when I hear the sound again. It’s coming from my brothers’ room. I crouch on the floor and crawl inside as quietly as I can. Then I hide on the side of their bunk bed. They are both fast asleep, I’m shocked the sound hasnt woke them up! Very nervously I wave my phones torch around the room looking for where the sound is coming from…
I can’t see anything unusual. All looks normal so what is that sound I keep hearing? I decide to go and take a look out of the window. Just as I am doing this, I hear the sound again! It’s coming from the bed! All of a sudden I smell something disgusting! I feel sick!!! The strange noise I could hear was my brother farting! …
I can’t wait to get out of the smelly room and return to my bed but I turn back around at the door. This is payback time for all those pranks he plays on me. I unlock my phone, go to the voice recorder, press record and wait for the sound again… GOT IT! Then I giggle to myself and run back to bed… I’ll save his fart noise as his caller ring tone!!!

I was wondering how long it would take before the kids came up with a farting story! Not long at all!!! Boys will be boys!
Now it’s your turn to offer ideas… What would you have found if you were chasing the strange noise in the night?Β
Leave all your wonderful ideas in the comments below…
Suki… X!

How awfully immature, Suki. Awfully immature! Why, back in my day… Although…upon further thought, the ringtone idea is pure brilliance. Sheer genius! Incredibly useful! I can’t wait to try it on my best friend Don! Please extend my profound compliments and gratitude to your admirably inventive boys! Indeed! Quite admirable boys! There is still hope for our species, I’d say.

Lol Suki. It is lovely how you do these stories with your boys. I could tell you a story about my hearing a strange noise in the night in the flat we lived in when we first got married, and I was convinced it was a mouse. Under my pillow! I will tell the story some time. It is really funny. I am sure we could all get our imaginations working on this one! Xxxx

I love this story!
If I was writing it there would have been scratching in the closet! A secret door in the back of the wall.

I thought you were going to say the scratching was a mouse in the closet! I like the secret door idea, I’ve done a similar story previously… β€

I once woke up from bed in the middle of night hearing a strange noise and found its the sound of calendar pages flipping in wind as the window near it was forgotten to close π

Too funny! I love that they help write these stories! In the car, we like to story tell…someone will start the story with 3 words, then we take turns adding 3 words at a time. Not surprising that most stories end up being about farts or poop, ha. Kids…gotta love ’em!

Yes, or superheroes! I guess their at that age… We used to do 1 sentence each but my youngest found it difficult to continue a story, this makes it easier for him… Thank you for taking the time to read it… β€

π This is my boys, too. They even got into an argument about who farts in whose bed at night…
If I heard a strange noise in the night, it would likely be one of them (farting or snoring, I suppose). If it wasn’t them, it would be our demon refrigerator….

Lol, yes I’ve had a demon refrigerator before! But now it’s the boys! I just have to work out which room it’s coming from… π
