Undervalued

Before undervaluing yourself, take a good look around.

Look at the people whose lives you touch. Look at the people who rely on you. Look at the people who need you. Look at the people who love you. Then imagine looking through these people’s eyes and seeing yourself from a completely different view.

Now value yourself again!

And when you’re feeling down about yourself; when your self-esteem is low, remember this feeling and pick yourself back up again.

We all have a worth, we just need reminding of it every now and again…

Suki… X!

  2. Wise, sensible words, but so many of us find it difficult to implement them. We so often do at best a poor job of it. If I recall, Aristotle expressed the ancient Greek notion of valuing oneself as “giving oneself one’s due” or “treating oneself justly”. You were to value yourself as much as you were worth, no more, no less — and you owed it to Justice to do that.

When the Christians came along, the old idea was tossed — for better or worse. The new idea was popularly understood pretty much as claiming yourself of little or no importance. That was the popular notion, although some of the Church’s theologians and a few of its saints stayed with the ancient Greek attitude. Me, I try to be an ancient Greek about it. But enough insufferable rambling!

    Important theme today, Suki. Thanks.

      1. I deeply feel my comment on your post has been profoundly undervalued by you, Suki. Profoundly undervalued!

(Not really. But why should I start resisting telling lame jokes at my age?)
